This fabulous cottage, situated just 3 miles from the edge of the North Pennines AONB, is perfect for you and your guests – including your canine companion! Sleeping four across two gorgeous bedrooms, this stunning property is the ideal base to return to after a long day of sniffing out the Derwent Valley and the surrounding countryside. Spend long summer evenings in the wonderful garden, taking shelter on the sofa in a delightful covered seating area, or lounge under the stars on the patio.
The property, which is set within 600 acres of private woodland and farmland, is spacious and welcoming with a contemporary feel. The huge kitchen diner is fresh and bright, while peaceful neutral tones and a large sofa in the lounge beckon you to snuggle up in front of the wood burner, your pup snoozing by your feet. Upstairs, soak aching muscles in a superb claw foot bath, before climbing into bed in one of the comfortable bedrooms. Calming tones and charming furnishings ensure you’ll get a great night’s sleep.
Grab your boots and head out for long walkies; a 10-mile route starts almost from the front door and takes you through the village of Shotley Bridge (3 miles) and alongside Waskerleyedge Plantation. For a more leisurely stroll, head to the National Trust’s 18th-century landscape garden Gibside (9 miles) and take in valley views; kids will love the play areas too. Beamish Living Museum (13.5 miles) is not to be missed, and dogs are welcome for free! The Roman village of Corbridge (11.5 miles) is well worth a visit, with many pubs, cafes and shops that will welcome your pup with open paws.
