If your pet loves sniffing out new trails – and you’re a fan of impressive architecture – this Grade II-listed property in the heart of Suffolk should tick all these boxes. It’s in Needham Market, a historical town with a pretty nature reserve within 0.5 miles of your front door. Take your pets on long, satisfying walks along the local Gipping River followed by cosy nights in with a home-cooked meal (or a takeaway!) and a film. With one king-size and one double bedroom, this property is ideal for one or two couples, or a small family group keen to enjoy a relaxing break with up to two pets.

Perhaps it’s the gorgeous wooden ceiling beams that make the inside of this terraced cottage so special, with pretty features like mullion windows also adding to the charm. Your pets, though, will likely be more impressed with the gorgeous inglenook fireplace – or more specifically, the fur-warming wood burner housed within it. The modern kitchen has a striking monochrome colour scheme which is echoed in the family bathroom. Outside, there’s an attractive enclosed area containing plenty of garden furniture, ornaments and shrubs – ideal for enjoying morning coffee as you make a rough plan for the day ahead.

During your stay, explore the streets nearby where you’ll find shops and a doggie-friendly pub all within 0.5 miles of your front door. The port town of Ipswich (9 miles) is well worth the trip for its river location on the River Orwell and waterfront lined with shops, galleries and cafés. When it’s time for some long, pet-satisfying walks, head 15 miles south-east to the Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Here you’ll find a diverse landscape of ancient woodland, forest, lowland heaths, farmland, and beaches all ready to be discovered with your faithful friends.

Lovely little cottage, comfortable and very well equipped. Very close to some lovely walks but also very handy for the shops and pubs. Our dog enjoyed the enclosed garden and also the lovely riverside and lakeside walks.

We had an excellent stay at Hearts Cottage. Very comfortable beds and we really appreciated the complimentary basket. Everything is close, as in shops and takeaways. Lovely walks for dog owners like ourselves, just 5 mins from the front door. We would definitely recommend and wouldn't hesitate to book again.
