For running around and sniffing in the fresh air, your furry friend will love this charming cottage’s huge, safe garden, while inside it really feels like a home from home. Set in a friendly village near Seahouses and Bamburgh, it’s ideal for families and groups of friends, and in a brilliant position for exploring Northumberland’s spectacular coast and historic sites.
Beautifully renovated with references to French style and the village ‘bobby’ who once lived here, this comfortable cottage has everything you’ll need for a memorable getaway. A wood burner is the focal point of the open-plan kitchen/diner, with its long table with benches and well-planned kitchen. Store your pup’s food and lead in the boot room, where there’s also a drying rack, garden toys and space for bikes and other kit. After supper, settle down in the lounge, with a book, some games or a movie on the Smart TV. There’s a ground-floor shower room and a first-floor bathroom, and the three bedrooms – two doubles and a king-size (which can be a twin on request) – are also on the first floor. Head to the sunny patio at the back and you’ll find a bistro table and chairs as well as an outside tap: great for canine clean-ups. Stone steps take you up to the fabulous lawned garden with a gravelled dining area, fire pit and a full-size boules/petanque pitch.
Belford is an ancient village with a market square and Medieval cross, where you’ll find a choice of shops, pubs and places to eat. It’s close to the coastal villages of Bamburgh, 5 miles (where dogs on leads are welcome in the castle grounds), and Seahouses, 8.5 miles. For fabulous walks, head to St Cuthbert’s (‘Cuddy’s’) Cave, 6.5 miles, and the Northumberland National Park via Wooler, 9 miles.
