Set in the friendly village of Powburn between Northumberland’s National Park and its coastal Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this delightful stone cottage is a fabulous hideaway for couples or a small family, and welcomes one furry best friend, too. Enjoy a variety of fabulous walks nearby or head to the coast for a beach day, then return to a cosy welcome with a Smart TV and a wood burner.
Step through the door of this traditional, semi-detached cottage and you can hang your pup’s lead in the porch-cum-boot room before heading into the open-plan living space with its warming wood burner in a huge inglenook. Prepare a tasty meal in the well-designed kitchen before settling down in front of the flames, perhaps for a card game or some TV. The family bathroom is on the ground floor, too, while the bedrooms are upstairs – a king-size and a double, each tucked under sloping ceilings with beautiful exposed beams. A discreet air-source heat pump provides warmth in both these charming rooms. For a quick coffee or even an al fresco meal, sit at the bistro table on the tiny patio at the front of the property.
Powburn is a lovely village with a cafe, general store and antiques centre, and you’re just 9 miles from Wooler, the gateway to the Cheviots, with its bustling high street and historic buildings. You can be at the National Trust’s Cragside in 10.5 miles, where there are 40 miles of footpaths to explore (with pups allowed in the shop and tearooms, too). The large, sandy beach at Alnmouth is 15.5 miles and the unspoilt fishing village of Craster, famous for its smoked kippers, is 17.5 miles.
