Head deep into the heart of the Cornish countryside and enjoy a wonderful stay at this unique stone-built retreat, where couples or solo travellers are welcome to bring along a couple of canine companions. Situated on a working farm, make the most of the great outdoors with walks in the surrounding woodland and al fresco dining in the enclosed patio garden.

Packed full of rustic character with many lovingly preserved original features, this delightful holiday home will charm your socks off as soon as you enter the door. It offers a reverse-level layout, and there are exposed wooden beams and thick stone walls present throughout. Climbing the original stone staircase outside the building brings you to the cosy living space with its colourful seating, dining table and small but perfectly formed kitchen. Go back outside to make your way around to the bedroom – you’ll follow back down the stairs and pass through the patio garden to access the stable door. The outdoor seating and gas BBQ provided are sure to come in handy on a warm evening, and Rover can safely explore unattended thanks to the fully enclosed borders. Through the delightful stable door, you'll find yourself in the most inviting of bedrooms where white-washed stone walls and a plush king-sized bed promise a good night's sleep in this quiet rural location. From here, a sliding oak door reveals a contemporary en-suite shower room to complete the holiday home.

Situated in the glorious Cornish countryside, fabulous walks along public footpaths begin from your doorstep. The farm owners, dog lovers themselves, are happy to allow you to exercise your hounds on their land too. You are never far from fabulous beaches in Cornwall, and the sweeping sands of Whitsand Bay are 7 miles away. Considered one of the area’s hidden gems, you and Rover can cavort on over 3 miles of Whitsand Bay’s stunning shoreline year-round with no seasonal restrictions. The popular seaside town of Looe is 8 miles from your door. Though dogs are not allowed on East Looe's beach, the shingle and sand of Hannafore Beach offer unrestricted access for four-legged friends year-round. There are a number of charming cafes and welcoming pubs to choose from in Looe, many of them actively encouraging dog owners to bring along their canine friends, making this an excellent destination for the foodies among you.

The accommodation is small and quirky but comfortable and clean, and the owners are very friendly. A bottle of Prosecco was in the fridge for us on arrival. An ideal base for visiting the sights of South Cornwall. Would book here again.

I cannot do an honest review as I am limited to 500 letters... All I will say is that 'Timmy's Stable is small but very homely and cosy. The location is like being in a John Constable painting. The clip clop of horses hooves added to the charm of the surroundings. The owners were attentive but not intrusive. Beautiful little retreat, tucked away from passers by but only 10 mins drive from the beach. It's not big but when you're exploring all day, it's perfect to come back to. And the shower is good!!
