With the enchanting Forest of Dean just 3 miles away, this charming stone cottage is a perfect springboard for discovering top-quality woodland trails with your pets. Plan a trekking holiday in the Wye Valley (2.5 miles) and bask in the natural beauty of this serene part of the country. This beautifully presented property has space for six guests over its three bedrooms, so is perfect for a family trip or holiday among friends, with two doggies welcome to join you.

This accommodation is located within its own grounds, offering a sense of seclusion and privacy – and plenty of nooks and crannies for the fluff balls to sniff out. Inside, the cosy lounge is a wonderful spot for relaxing, with sofas and an open fire housed within an attractive exposed brick fireplace. As your pups warm their fur, enjoy reading or playing board games with fellow guests. Moving on to the beautifully designed open-plan living area, this space boasts dual-aspect windows, exposed stone walls and elegant ceiling beams. There’s a well-equipped kitchen, a contemporary dining area and a seating area with a large corner sofa and TV. Natural light pours in from the French doors which lead to the enclosed garden. A bonus room upstairs is the snug, equipped with a comfy chair and TV. Your energetic pups can roam safely and freely in the lovely garden, which has pretty patio area complete with a picnic bench and fire pit/BBQ – fab for evening gatherings under the ambient external lighting. On the grassy section, a hammock provides the perfect spot for some quiet reading or grabbing forty winks.

You’ll be in the quiet village of Broadwell, set within the ancient St Briavels Hundred of the Forest of Dean. In the bustling market town of Coleford (0.5) you’ll have access to an array of local shops, from well-stocked delis and bakeries to dog-friendly pubs and restaurants. If your pet is the adventure-hungry type, how about trying out some water sports on the River Wye? You can enjoy canoeing and paddleboarding at a variety of locations including Symonds Yat (8 miles), a spectacular beauty spot.

Lovely cottage, lots of space. Great kitchen and bathrooms, cosy beds and set back from the road so it was nice and quiet. Very central to all the walks and attractions. Coleford 1 mile away for takeaways and shopping. Couldn't fault it.

The cottage is very welcoming, and was nice and cosy during our stay. The location is excellent for exploring the Forest. Very clean and excellently equipped with all that we needed.

The cottage was exceptionally clean and everything was in excellent condition. Good location for exploring the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley. Garden was lovely and enclosed, dogs made to feel welcome. Communication with host was excellent. Would thoroughly recommend.

A comfortable, well-equipped base from which to explore the local area. A warm welcome from Anne, next door, and a generous welcome pack. Really well-placed for accessing the delights of the Forest within a few minutes drive and good local amenities, including supermarkets, bakery, deli, takeaways and cafes.

Beautiful house and garden, very comfortable and clean, great very large kitchen with plenty of cooking utensils. Th downstairs wet room and bedroom was super My dogs loved the garden. The house is on busy B road but set back off road. About a mile to Coleford for shops and pubs. We didn't walk the dogs from the house but went out in the car with tRead morehem. We had a lovely break at The Rising Sun Cottage. Anne is a lovely host who has thought of everything. Getting a detailed email beforehand about what will be provided is so useful (especially for those of us who have to think of everything!). The living space is fantastic- so light and bright. What a wonderful cottage and host. We really enjoyed our February half-term stay here. Anne was very welcoming and has furnished & equipped the cottage to a beautiful standard. It was spacious, cosy, immaculately clean and the beds are so comfy, it was a struggle to get out and go exploring! We absolutely loved this cottage. Large comfy sofa and modern kitchen and bathrooms. Secure garden for the dogs to play in, food, dishes and beds for their comfort. Our grandson especially loved playing peek-a-boo through the hole in the wall. We had a great weekend. The house was well equipped for us and our dogs. It was a delight to find dog beds, food and treats provided for them. The house is a good base for lots of walking and sight seeing and a delight to go back to and relax after a busy day.

A delightful, roomy house in excellent condition; the walk-in shower was particularly good. The dogs were well catered for and loved the bedding provided for them. The area was great for walking and there are so many interesting places to visit on the doorstep. We would highly recommend this house to future visitors.

A lovely, clean and very spacious cottage with secure, private garden, ideal for our dogs. Very well equipped with all that is needed to have a holiday home from home.
