Soak up the sunshine as your delighted dog explores the garden at this single-storey cottage on the outskirts of the colourful Lake District town of Windermere. Sleeping four guests, the two-bedroom property makes a great Cumbrian retreat for couples with canines or for a small family wishing to bring their furry friend along to join in the fun. From here head out on scenic walks with magnificent lake and fell views and find dog-friendly eateries just 0.5 miles away in the town centre.
Enter the property and make yourselves immediately as home in the airy lounge/diner. Open the doors in here on spring and summer days so your chum can stretch his legs out in the enclosed garden. Enjoy movie nights together, while your contented canine dozes gently in the corner and set the table for homecooked holiday meals that have been prepared through in the kitchen. There is a family bathroom at the cottage, as well as a king-size bedroom with en-suite shower room and doors on to the garden, and a twin bedroom. The garden area has two patios for you choose from, as well as storage space for cycles and even kayaks. There is parking for one car.
Pack a picnic and a few dog treats and venture 2 miles into Bowness-on-Windermere to take a cruise on the lake. Your happy hound is welcome aboard and can leap off with you at the various jetty stops along the way. Disembark at the National Trust’s Fell Foot, for example, where they can explore the parkland with you and can run free in the south meadow and paddle in the shallows of the lake. Plan a day trip to Coniston Water, 11.5 miles away, where you can follow sections of the 15-mile walk all the way round the lake.
