At a glance

  • Charming, rural holiday cottage located in the pretty village of Alfriston
  • Overlooking the village green and within 500 metres of the local tearooms and pub
  • Explore the abundance of footpaths from the doorstep through the beautiful South Downs National Park
Property code: OC-89657

Spend some quality time with family, friends plus your canine chum in the charming back garden or sunny conservatory of this three-bed holiday home, just relaxing into your stay and making magic memories. It’s set in a tranquil part of the Sussex village of Alfriston overlooking the village green but, being situated within the South Downs National Park, the house also has access to lots of great walking paths – heaven for outdoorsy types and dogs alike!

Keep your doggy towels in the handy porch for wiping potentially mucky paws as you enter this impressive house. The bright and airy lounge has plenty of comfortable seating for watching TV, reading or merely thinking about your holiday itinerary. Next door is a more open-plan dining area, complete with a cosy wood burner and a table easily seating six for those communal holiday feasts knocked up by the chef of the day in the smart fitted kitchen with all mod cons. This leads into the conservatory extension with another table for six. Two doubles and one twin bedroom are spacious and individually decorated in calming tones with pops of colour and antique furnishings. The fully enclosed rear garden has deluxe outdoor furniture on the patio, as well as extensive lawns and a BBQ – perfect for summer nights.

The South Downs offer miles of walking trails so why not lead the way to adventure. Or head to the village shops, pubs and tearooms (within 500 metres). The National Trust’s Alfriston Clergy House is also in the village but dogs aren’t permitted, so will have to miss out on that one. Or visit Seaford (4.5 miles) with its long shingle beach, large parts of which are dog friendly – but do check before you let your canine chum go mutts off the lead!

The house was comfortable, quiet and well equipped. The WiFi worked well. It was a short and level walking distance to the village and all the restaurants and coffee shops. We liked the large garden and space to hang out washing. It was a great base to explore the coast and villages. A lovely and tranquil house.

This is a lovely property with plenty of internal as well as external garden space for our party (5 adults and a baby). Really well appointed and we had everything required over a two week holiday from stairgate/high chair/travel cot to sharp knives in the kitchen, the latter in our experience is a rarity! Alfriston is a beautiful village and the pRead moreroperty itself is ideally located whether you want quick access to paths for dog walks or to visit the well appointed village shop/deli or the lovely cafe or various pubs/restaurants in the village. Can highly recommend. Hide

Loved our stay at this property, lots of space downstairs, beautiful furniture, kitchen clean and very well equipped. Lovely conservatory with sliding glass doors to open up and look at the spacious garden or sit outside on patio furniture. Bedrooms lovely, all clean and comfortable. Nice to hear sheep in field beyond instead of traffic noise.

An excellent cottage, both in terms of location and comfort. The garden, in particular, was really good. Our dog enjoyed it very much.
