Put a spring in your step as you spend quality time with your loved one and a four-pawed plus-one at this romantic Black Mountains retreat. An open-plan interior means you can spend every waking moment together, and there are 300 acres of rugged farmland to explore from the doorstep.
Secluded in woodland and with a stunning valley outlook, this idyllic couple’s escape creates a really special chance to reconnect. Situated in an authentic sheep-farming setting, it extends a warm welcome to waggy-tailed visitors only from the start of January to mid-April each year, with one pet allowed for each booking. You’ll start making memories the moment you arrive; park in the farmyard and you’ll find a wheelbarrow to help move your luggage along a 100-metre path to the cabin! Prepare to be bow-wowed as you get closer: the single-storey property has a raised wooden terrace wrapped around two sides, and is surrounded by greenery. Inside, the cabin is charmingly simple yet well-equipped. Best of all, Rover can stay close at all times with the living space configured to offer a lounge area with a comfortable sofa and TV, plus a small kitchen area housing all the self-catering essentials. An inviting double bed is at one end of the room, and there’s a separate shower room to complete your comfort. Open the patio doors at the front of the living room and you can step straight onto your enclosed wooden terrace; enjoy stunning valley views, warm toes and paws by the firepit or enjoy stargazing and wildlife-watching as Rover snoozes at your feet.
Explore the 300 acres of established woodland and farmland on your doorstep – you’re on the Herefordshire/Wales border, within the Black Mountains on the eastern edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Climb onto the Cat’s Back which rises just west of Craswell – dogs are welcome in the village inn if you need a thirst-quencher afterwards – or join the Offa’s Dyke Path where you can walk out to Hay Bluff. For a more leisurely stroll, the vibrant market town of Hay-on-Wye (4 miles) is a bookworm’s paradise but also has a weekly market and a host of independent shops and eateries to suit every appetite.
