Exploring further, the ground floor offers a large kitchen with a breakfast table, plus a cosy snug – ideal for getting away to read a book – and a handy utility room for leaving walking boots and cleaning muddy paws. Upstairs, there’s a family bathroom and five light, airy bedrooms: a bunk bedroom, a twin, and three super-king-size rooms (two with en-suite shower rooms). Outside, the country garden has a lawn for kids and dogs to run about, with a raised decked area with a wood-burning Swedish-style hot tub to luxuriate in. Dogs are welcome at attractions including Mirehouse and Gardens, the Puzzling Place and Derwent Pencil Museum, all within 13 miles.
