  • Charming Welsh retreat in a lovely converted stone barn with breath-taking views over the valley down to the river and lake
  • Set in a 220-acre family farm near Bala, perfect for a couple or solo traveller and their dog to relax  and take an active break in Snowdonia National Park
  • Enjoy boating, fishing, golf, cycling, walking, steam railway and many attractions within a 5-mile radius
Property code: 89368

The cottage is set within a large farm, just outside Bala on the edge of Snowdonia National Park. The romantic retreat sleeps two guests and one pup and is the perfect place to switch off and recharge. Enjoy long walks from your front door, or venture further afield to explore the mountain ranges around Bala (3.5 miles) and the beautiful waterside walks at Wales’s largest natural lake. There are also some excellent pup-friendly attractions nearby, including Bala Lake Railway (8.5 miles).

The stone country cottage has a home-away-from-home vibe, with cosy soft furnishings and subtle lighting. Spend quality time together in the lounge/kitchen/diner, where you can share meals at the table for two, followed by a movie night in front of the Smart TV. The cottage has hard floors throughout, making it nice and easy to deal with the odd muddy pawprint. Upstairs, you’ll find an inviting double bedroom and a stylish bathroom. The enclosed patio enjoys far-reaching views and is a beautiful spot for Fido to take an afternoon siesta and you to dine alfresco. You and the hound are also welcome to explore the footpaths on the farm surrounding the property.

Bala is a friendly market town, bursting with Welsh culture and heritage. The town has welcomed walkers and their canine sidekicks for generations, and many of the local eateries happily allow four-pawed diners. The landscape surrounding the town is spectacular, with the mountain ranges of Aran, Arenig, and Berwyn all within 20 miles. These ranges are often quieter than those in the north of the national park, allowing you to escape the crowds and appreciate the region’s peace and tranquillity. There are some fabulous walks around Bala Lake (3.5 miles), offering fantastic views, and from here, you can also hop on the dog-friendly steam train to visit Llanuwchllyn.

A wonderful hideaway in a beautiful part of Wales. Good for bikers and walkers, but also a good spot from which to explore the north west of Wales by car. Our chalet was very well equipped, modern and very clean. The chalets are all well soundproofed between each other: there are 7 chalets at this site. Our particular chalet would not be suitable fRead moreor a wheelchair). We were left to our own devices, but had a very friendly welcome from the owner. Easy to get to Bala for provisions/meals Hide

Bright and pleasant place to stay. Convenient for local walks and for watersports on lake Bala. Be aware that this area is less touristy than snowdonia, which makes it less busy but also the waymarked walks can be overgrown. Avoid the tiny lanes.

The accommodation was spotlessly clean, really well equipped and very comfortable. Perfect as a base to explore the local area. Great value too! The outdoor space was a bit of a disappointment in that it is small, not private and overlooks the car park but that was the only negative.

We have just had a fantastic few days at Sue's place. There are a few adjoining barns that are all rented out with plenty of parking and fantastic views. We took our two dogs and most of the neighbours had dogs too. There are walks on the farm and plenty more in the surrounding countryside. Bala village / lake is a 5/7 minute drive. There are lots Read moreof places to eat in the village, but we liked Plas Yn Dre. The cottage itself was well equipped and Sue was lovely. Hide

Lovely warm welcome when we arrived. The cottage, Aran, was spotless and fully equipped. Our dogs were made very welcome too and Susan showed me where the two walks were, on the farm. The views are amazing and the patio is a sun trap. We had an amazing week.
