Rest and recharge in this cosy cottage on the beautiful Cornish countryside. With a roaring wood burner and a picturesque outdoor dining area, the property makes the perfect romantic retreat for you and your favourite human and hounds. The area is awash with dog walks, from woodland trails at Golitha Falls (6.5 miles) to coastal hikes along the South West Coast Path (9.5 miles). You’ll be within easy reach of some of Cornwall’s most-loved towns and villages, including Polperro (9.5 miles) and Fowey (15 miles).
The cottage has been decorated in neutral tones and still retains original features, such as the exposed trusses in the lounge/kitchen/diner. Enjoy quality time together here, sharing delicious meals for two at the table and snuggling up with the hounds by the wood burner. Steps lead to a second lounge area, where you can enjoy a movie night over a bottle of wine. There is also a sofa bed, which can accommodate two further guests. Stairs lead to the first floor, where you’ll find a king-size bedroom and a beach-themed shower room. Outside is a private patio for al fresco dining, and a shared garden with areas where the dogs can play.
Journey to Lerryn (5 miles) for a relaxed afternoon on the banks of the River Fowey. Stride out with the pups to explore the riverside and woodland walks, before refuelling in the 16th-century pub. In Bodmin (10 miles), join the Camel Trail, which is a traffic-free path that winds through the Cornish countryside to Wadebridge or Wenfordbridge. This is a great route for senior hounds, who enjoy a flat, gentle stroll. On a hot day, Golitha Falls is a great choice. Wander amongst the ancient oak trees, marvelling at the magnificent waterfalls, before settling down for a sandwich and dog treat by the river.
