  • Coastal hideaway in the far north of the Scottish Highlands on the North Coast 500
  • Relax on the decking or in the hot tub taking in the night skies and Aurora Borealis
  • Nestled on the hillside this lovely cottage offers beautiful sea views from every room
Property code: OC-89234

Get away from it all in the far north of the Scottish Highlands on the popular NC500 (North Coast 500). This converted croft cottage has gorgeous views from every room and plenty of space to kick back as a family or group of friends. Sit out in the garden with the fire pit lit on a summer’s evening; soak up the views from the conservatory, light the open fire on chillier ones – and enjoy the hot tub whatever the weather.

There’s plenty of space for cooking, eating together and relaxing, and there’s a handy ground-floor bedroom and en-suite. Up the cottage staircase are two more bedrooms and an infrared sauna where you can warm up after a day’s adventures then sit outside in the hot tub watching the Aurora Borealis. Your dogs will love it here too as the garden is enclosed with hedging so they can have their freedom when you’re not all out on a walk.

Head out as a pack from Navidale to Helmsdale (0.5 miles) then down to the beach. Don’t let the rocks put you off - this is a beautiful wild beach where you can swim, let the dogs roam, and look out for fossils among the rocks, and dolphins, seals and whales among the waves. If you want a sandy beach, Brora is 12.5 miles along the coast, 2 miles of (mainly) sand. The highlands are brimming with country, coastal and river walks, and you can easily pick up the John O’Groats Trail, 147 miles along the east coast from John O’Groats to Inverness. Everyone will love Timespan Museum in Helmsdale with fascinating exhibitions, a cafe, and herb and geology gardens with rock specimens from the local area. You can even take your furry friend in with you, just watch out for the stuffed wolf!

Excellent location, private and with super views. Garden is adequate if not huge. Cottage is comfortable and a bit of home from home in a lovely way. Proximity to brilliant beach at Brora was a delight. Owner and team on hand if any questions.

The cottage is in a perfect location and the hot tub was very clean and perfect temperature. The cottage maybe needs a bit attention as its a bit outdated but we had a lovely time and would definitely go back if we headed back to that part of Scotland.

The house was very comfortable and in a great location. We watched the sunrise from the garden several times. The dark night sky was beautiful, especially whilst looking at it from the hot tub. It was very quiet and the views from the house were fantastic.

The location of this property is amazing. Very close to the A9 for exploring the area and beyond. View from the hot tub is perfect for relaxing after a busy day. Really nice property with great views and use of a hot tub. Great local dinning. La Mirage was a favourite as i have Gluten intolerance and they cater well for this. Right on NC500 so good access to a lot of places to visit. SPA shop and pub a mole away and open until late.

Property is in a beautiful location and it has a rustic feel but some things could do with a update and tidy, garden round side of the house and conservatory but overall beautiful place and we enjoyed our week and would return in the future, amazing views and plenty to do

Pretty cottage, very cosy and quirky with its angled doors in the upstairs bedrooms tucked under the eaves. Lovely fire for those colder damp days.

Great location - near A9 so handy for visiting attractions on North coast. No road noise to speak of. Great views of sea and moors, we deer spotted and bird watched from the hot tub. For wetter days the sauna is a bonus.

A traditional small roomed house with a nice addition of a light and bright kitchen and small sun room at the front to admire the view over the sea to the front, and the fields with sheep to the sides. Situated on a small quiet road (two lane traffic) not far from the A9 makes it convenient to access the many places to see north and south. The A9 iRead mores a busy road so expect traffic noise outside and in the sunroom. Hide

After a long journey north, it was disappointing to find the directions to get to the cottage are wrong. Following the exit to the right would land you in the North Sea and there is no sign saying Navidale, just local traffic. The cottage itself is not easy to find and should be more clearly signed. We found the house to have everything we needed aRead morelthough the decor and furnishings were a bit "tired". However it is a lovely location and close to amenities. Hide
