At low tide, the beach is vast and sandy and it’s open to dogs all year round. If your pup would prefer sand-free paws, take a walk around the Pentire Headland – the ocean views are panoramic and always dramatic. For fun further afield, enjoy chugging through the Cornish countryside on a steam train at Lappa Valley, 6 miles inland. Dogs are welcome on board and this 35-acre site includes a large field where they can run off-lead. Salty sea dogs are also welcome on board the boat trips run by the Newquay Sea Safaris company; water and dog biscuits will keep Rover happy while you watch for seals and dolphins.
