A former piggery transformed into a charming, pet-friendly rural retreat for two in the heart of Exmoor, this is a perfect location for dog lovers who want to share a holiday with their two canine companions. The stylish conversion has beautiful countryside views and is set in the peaceful village of Cutcombe in Exmoor National Park, with wonderful walks from the front door.
Housed in a single-storey annexe, this welcoming holiday home is beautifully furnished, with a light and airy interior. The hallway leads to a bright studio space with French doors opening onto an enclosed terrace and a glorious vista of Exmoor. It has a two-seater sofa, a cosy rug where your pets can curl up for a snooze, and a pretty dining area. A screened sleeping area houses a sumptuous king-size bed with well-planned storage. Off the hallway are a compact contemporary kitchen and smart shower room. The small, sunny terrace has patio furniture where you can sit back and drink in the views with your pups at your feet.
Stock up on food in Wheddon Cross (0.5 miles), which has a village shop, post office, garage and pub. Then pack up a picnic and doggy treats for an invigorating walk up nearby Dunkery Beacon. At 519m, this is the highest point in southern England, with magnificent, far-reaching views of the Bristol Channel, South Wales and beyond. Dunster Castle (6 miles), dramatically sited on a wooded hill is also a must-see attraction. The National Trust property has beautiful, terraced gardens and a tranquil riverside walk leading to an historic working watermill. While your four-legged friends must be on a lead, the National Trust provides water bowls and there’s a dog-friendly tearoom so they are more than welcome. The pretty village of Porlock and seaside town of Minehead are also both within 9 miles.
