A rural yet central location and clever fusion of original and contemporary features make this converted barn the perfect island escape. With walks on the doorstep and spacious, sociable accommodation, everyone will have a ball here!
Great for a big group getaway, the barn’s open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner sets the scene for fun times together; the high ceilings and large glass panes create a wonderfully light living space. Exposed beams, natural flooring and a wood burner add country character, while all the essentials are provided for a fuss-free stay. Two ground-floor bedrooms – one king-size and one twin – have en-suite shower rooms, and completing the downstairs layout is a handy utility room. There are separate wooden stairways on either side of the barn; to the right of the entrance, one leads to another twin bedroom with an en-suite bathroom. The other leads to a snug room with a TV and a sofa bed that folds out into a small double, and, off this space, an en-suite shower room. Step through the snug to a super-king-size bedroom – the two areas combine to make a lovely family suite. The property is set amidst fields and woodlands, and you can enjoy countryside views from the terrace to the front where you’ll find an outdoor dining table, chairs and swing seat; there’s a lawn area to the side too.
Set tails wagging with a walk along the public footpath that runs across one of the lower fields close by, or let Fido feel the sand between his paws with a walk at the beach – Thorness Bay is 2.5 miles away. The UK’s sailing capital, Cowes, is just 4 miles when you want to shop or watch the sporting action, and dogs are welcome within the grounds of Osborne House (10 miles).
