This contemporary, modern cottage is in the heart of Keswick and a charming place to stay if you’re planning on exploring the Lake District National Park. Perfectly placed for walks in fells and forests, enjoying boat cruises and bus trips, and even visiting a stately home, it’s a wonderful base for your Cumbria adventures.
The front door of this mid-terrace property is reached via four steps, and the ground floor consists of a bright and airy lounge/kitchen/diner. Get comfortable in the lounge, where comfortable seating is arranged around a Smart TV and wood burner effect electric fire. Meals can be enjoyed at the adjacent dining table set within the convenient kitchen, where there’s plenty of space to set down your pups’ bowls so they can have their dinner too. On the first floor you’ll find two bedrooms – a king-size and a twin, both with ample storage – and a vibrant family bathroom. The kitchen door takes you out to the suntrap rear garden, with a lawn reached via steps (there is also level access from the parking area) – a good place for hounds to have a sniff around or for you to relax with a coffee.
Keswick has been awarded the most dog-friendly place in the UK, and this pretty market town has a great selection of welcoming shops, restaurants and pubs. You can all hop on and off the open-top bus for a day tour of the lakes, or take the launch for a cruise around Derwentwater, either sailing around the whole lake or stopping off at one of the jetties and walking back. The choice of walks in the area, from easy strolls to challenging hikes, is endless and you’ll want to visit Whinlatter Forest, England’s only mountain forest, for its spectacular views and dog-friendly cafe. You and your canine family may also want to explore the gardens and woods at the historic stately home of Mirehouse, 4.5 miles away.
