Escape with family and friends to this delightful cottage set on the outskirts of the seaside town of Weymouth, with nearby beaches, nature reserves and family attractions waiting to be explored.
A delightful period cottage, full of character and charm and close to the seaside town of Weymouth is the perfect base for five guests and two family pets to explore this beautiful corner of Dorset. You and your canine friends can have fun at the beach, take exhilarating walks along the South West Coast Path and climb a landmark Iron Age hill fort - perhaps not not all in one day! - before returning home to cosy up in front of an open fire.
This lovely property has a simple, cottage-style interior with period touches. The inviting lounge has comfortable sofas, while the dining room has a beautiful vintage overmantel mirror on one wall. There’s a spacious all-white kitchen and a handy ground-floor WC. Narrow cottage-style stairs lead to three charming bedrooms—a king-size, a double and a single—and a family bathroom. The pretty terraced garden, which has two secluded seating spots, is not fully enclosed, so please take care with your doggy pals.
Head for beaches at Bowleaze Cove (6 miles) and Ringstead Bay (8 miles) where your four-legged companions can practise their stick retrieval skills. Weymouth beach (3.5 miles) has a year-round allocated area for dog exercise. Meet colourful creatures from the deep at the town’s Sealife Aquarium and see fantastic fossils at Dorset County Museum in Dorchester (4 miles). Just outside the town is the magnificent Iron Age hill fort of Maiden Castle. Your pets are welcome here but must be on a lead. Visit the Isle of Portland (10 miles) to find 60 hidden carvings in abandoned Tout Quarry, reborn as a Sculpture Park. See a fossilised turtle in the local museum and climb the 153 steps to the top of Portland Bill lighthouse for panoramic coastal views.
