Nestled in the quaint fishing village of Staithes is this cosy cottage, rich in history and just a few steps from the beach - ideal for families.

Unwind in a classic country cottage by the coast with characterful original features like a unique oven wood burner and wooden floors. Located in a pretty seaside village in the North York Moors National Park, there are plenty of delightful seafront walks to enjoy with your furry companion and guests from your doorstep. Less than 100 metres away there is a wonderful dog-welcoming seafood restaurant, and there are plenty more dotted around the village.

Snuggle up in front of the fire with a glass of wine in one hand while petting your wagging woofer with the other, surrounded by your family or friends. In the lounge/diner is a wooden table and chairs for enjoying special meal times together. The kitchen is contemporary and bright with a pop of colour and a breakfast bar. Climb the stairs to reach the first floor where you’ll find the three bedrooms – a double, single a triple room with singles. There is also a family bathroom with a shower over the bath.

The picturesque fishing village of Staithes is located 10 miles from Whitby on the North Yorkshire coast. Staithes host a handful of real ale and jazz festivals throughout the year which is great fun to attend. The beach (less than 0.5 miles) is dog friendly, as are a host of pubs and restaurants. Stretch your legs and take in the views on one of the many clifftop walks nearby. Additionally, you can learn about the fascinating tale of Captain Cook at the heritage centre (less than 0.5 miles).

  • Please note that this property is not suitable for the less mobile due to the steep incline in and out of the village and some steep stairs and low ceilings in the property

  • 2 dogs allowed. Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week

We stayed at the Curious Crab over the New Year.. we walked into the cottage and I was immediately struck by the gorgeous, original range in the living room, absolutely stunning. The whole village is beautiful, but cannot be seen from the cottage itself. If you have any difficulty breathing this cottage is not for you, as you have to go up two flights of stairs if you are in the kitchen and need the bathroom, with the breakfast bar being the easiest place to eat having cooked due to the steep concrete stairs back up to the Read morelounge and dining table. The whole area of the coast is wonderful from Ravens Car to Redcar, especially Whitby, Sandsend and Saltburn-By-The-Sea. Hide

We enjoyed our stay.Good location, cottage was clean, living area was a bit tired looking. Stairs down to kitchen are quirky but wouldnt suit someone with mobility issues. The welcome pack is a nice touch.

We had a wonderful time with our 2 doggies! Lots of morning and evening walks on the beach and around the harbour. The beds and bed linen were super comfy and we slept like a dream! Everyone in the village so friendly! The car parking permit was a real plus and the welcome goodies ! The local pubs were dog friendly with basic pub food and a good atRead moremosphere. Great cottage in a great location, very homely feel. The beds were comfy and another thing was the towels were a great quality.Right on the doorstep of the seafront but still very quiet (apart from the seagulls) The drop of luggage on check in was tricky if you met oncoming traffic but is expected in such a quaint village. The kitchen had a very baRead mored smell, imagine its because the kitchen is in on sewage level. didnt ruin our stay. Great holiday. Pubs are nice but not great food Hide
