Tucked away on the north-eastern outskirts of the Brecon Beacons National Park in the sleepy village of Clyro, this picture-postcard cottage is an ideal place to relax and unwind. Perfect for families and their four-legged friends, you will be able to enjoy walks from your doorstep amongst the unbridled countryside, before heading home to curl up in front of the wood burner with loved ones. Despite its quiet location, you’re only 1.5 miles from book lover’s haven, Hay-on-Wye with its range of independent shops and eateries.
As charming on the inside as it is on the outside, this country cottage is welcoming and homely. Original features, such as exposed beams and stone fireplaces, blend effortlessly with a mix of contemporary and traditional furniture, whilst warm wooden tones add comfort. On the ground floor, there’s plenty of space for everyone with a well-equipped kitchen/diner a lounge with a wood burner, a snug and a garden room. Meanwhile, up the cottage stairs, there are three delightful bedrooms and a family bathroom. Heading outside, you can explore the rambling garden, enjoy views of the waterfall from the original ‘ty bach’ or light the fire pit and enjoy a spot of stargazing.
Both two-legged and four-legged guests will enjoy walks from your doorstep but, further afield, why not head to the top of the Brecon Beacons’ highest summit, Pen-y-Fan (20 miles), to enjoy the spectacular views? Perhaps you’d prefer to partake in some water sports, in which case, Llangorse Lake (12.5 miles) is the ideal place. If you’re more inclined to take a gentle stroll around a quaint market town with tea and cake in a dog-friendly café, then you should head to Brecon or Crickhowell (within 20 miles). Venturing over the border into England, you could also visit Hereford (22 miles).
