A first-floor apartment in the thriving town of Cockermouth, with a great selection of local amenities on the doorstep.
This charming property is the perfect Cumbrian base for two – including the hounds, of course! Sleeping you both in a peaceful double bedroom with space for up to two dogs to snooze, this apartment is perfect for exploring the northern Lake District and the fells to the west. Spend the afternoon exploring the trails at Whinlatter Forest (7.5 miles) before coming home for dinner at one of the dog-friendly pubs.
Head up the stairs to the first-floor apartment where you’ll find a bright and airy lounge. Enjoy people-watching out of the window or get cosy on the sofas and watch TV, surrounded by soft lighting and beautiful exposed beams. The kitchen has everything you need to cook up delicious meals which can be eaten at the dining table; watch out for those puppy dog eyes begging for scraps! When it’s time for bed, climb the stairs to the second floor where pastel tones, statement furniture and large windows in the bedroom promote a tranquil night’s sleep. A spacious bathroom with a shower over the bath also lies on this floor.
Go for a stroll around Bassenthwaite Lake (7 miles); the pup can even join you in Bassenthwaite Lake Station which is now a cafe. For beach walkies, try St Bees (18.5 miles) where the mile-long stretch has a dog-friendly cafe at one end. Visit Keswick (14 miles) with its quirky attractions, the Derwent Pencil Museum and The Puzzling Place; make sure you wander the grounds of Mirehouse while you’re there too. And for a ride through the only coastal village in the Lake District Natural Park, climb aboard the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway (30.5 miles) where pups are welcome to join you.
