A couple’s retreat in the popular village of Ashford-in-the-Water. Stay in this picture-perfect village with miles of countryside walks and many of the Peak District’s hot spots within easy reach.
Nestled in a beautiful location close to lots of tail-wagging walks and with glorious views across The Peaks, this cottage is a romantic retreat for a couple, or a couple with a child, and two of their furry friends. Based in the heart of the Peak District, the village is a scenic spot to explore with your four-legged family members and Bakewell is just 1.5 miles away, with access to the rest of the national park.
The house has a warm country cottage feel with an ornamental fire and lovely wooden furniture. There’s one bedroom, plus a sofa bed in the lounge if you need another sleeping space for a little one. It’s all on one level and has a pretty garden that both you and the dogs will enjoy. Head outside to the wraparound patio, where you can soak up the sunshine with a chilled drink while your happy hounds chase their tails.
Ashford-in-the-Water is a picturesque village and it’s worth exploring the church, pub, shop, and tearooms. It’s on the banks of the River Wye, a great spot for a picnic, and the start of the circular walk to Bakewell (6 miles), which follows the river before passing through fields and woodland. Stop off for a bit of shopping or lunch in a dog-friendly pub or café in Bakewell. The Monsal Dale is only 2 miles from the cottage with some of the best walks in the UK. There are also some great walks in the woods and moorland around Chatsworth House – dogs are welcome in the grounds, but not the house.
