This luxurious holiday home is in a pretty Lakeland village, just 4 miles from the market town of Penrith. The area is ideal for humans and hounds who love the great outdoors, with a multitude of walks to explore, including the Ullswater Way (8 miles) that circumnavigates the iconic lake. The property sleeps four guests and two hairy hounds, making it perfect for a small family or two couples, and has a sociable layout that lends itself to dinner parties and celebrations. The woofers will love the enclosed garden, where they can play on the lawn whilst you dine alfresco.

Enter the property through a stone archway off the shared courtyard. Once inside, discover a bright lounge/kitchen/diner that’s full of character, thanks to colourful furniture and stylish accessories. This open-plan space is perfect for entertaining, allowing you to potter between the comfortable seating, formal dining table, and kitchen. The space has hard floors throughout, making it easy to deal with pawprints, and there’s ample room for the dog beds. Upstairs, you’ll find two luxurious bedrooms. The first king-size bedroom has a warming wood burner, as well as a roll-top bath! The second king-size bedroom has beautiful original features. Both have en-suite shower rooms. Outside, the enclosed garden houses a private hot tub, where you can relax whilst the woofers play on the lawn.

Enjoy peaceful walks along the shores of Ullswater and admire the stunning landscape that has inspired writers and poets for centuries. Alternatively, head to Pooley Bridge (8 miles) to board the woof-friendly Ullswater Steamer and glide majestically across the water with your hairy sidekicks. Lowther Castle and Gardens (8 miles) makes a great doggy day out. Wander through the impressive gardens and marvel at the fascinating ruins, before refuelling in the dog-friendly cafe.

  • 2 dogs allowed. Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week
  • There is an Accidental Damage Deposit of £200 when booking at this property, however this may be waived for £25. We’ll provide more details about this when booking your holiday.

Cottage was nice, maybe a little pricey and could have been better cleaned downstairs and under the chairs and sofas. Mattress and pillows were very comfortable Overall had a good stay in a pleasant area.

Stunning location, very comfortable beds. Lots of stairs which might be tricky for the less mobile as the only bathrooms are upstairs. For a long stay theres also no washing machine. Perfectly placed for exploring the lakes.
