Perfect base for anyone who loves this region, with stunning views in both directions and an abundance of walks on your doorstep.
Sitting at the foot of Blencathra in the outskirts of the pretty village of Threlkeld, this attractive cottage sleeps five people over three bedrooms and welcomes one faithful friend. With an abundance of beautiful walks available from the doorstep, this is a fabulous accommodation option for families or groups of friends who want to explore Keswick and Derwentwater with their canine companion by their side. Spend your days taking your pup for walkies at Bassenthwaite Lake and your evenings warming your toes by the cottage’s wood burner.
Step inside this classic Cumbrian cottage, kick off your walking shoes and store all your dog-walking gear in the large hall area. Head on through to the contemporary kitchen/diner and cook up a storm for your loved ones. Gather everyone around the dining table for a sociable dinner, before pouring yourself a glass of wine and heading out to the shared garden to enjoy the gorgeous views. Alternatively, snuggle up in front of the TV while your pup stretches out contentedly by the crackling wood burner. When the day is done, you’ll find three lovely bedrooms on the first-floor.
Your pup travels for free on Keswick Launch Co’s cruises (6 miles), so pack up the dog treats and enjoy a hop-on-hop-off boat trip on Derwentwater. Hop off in Lodore to see the waterfall and at High Brandelhow to hike to Catbells and Maiden Moor. Alternatively, take your pup for walkies in the grounds of the 17th-century manor house at Mirehouse (8 miles), which has literary connection with Tennyson and Wordsworth. Dogs are welcome in the teahouse there too. At the end of the day, treat yourself to some pub grub in one of Keswick’s (4.5 miles) many dog-friendly pubs.
