Tire furry feet on exhilarating walks through the magnificent Brecon Beacons when you stay at this gorgeous stone holiday home near Llanveynoe on the Welsh and English border. Nestled in undulating countryside, 3.5 miles from Longtown, it is perfect for anyone wishing to strike out into the picturesque Black Mountains. Sleeping six guests, plus a duo of delighted dogs, the enticing character house has three bedrooms and benefits from an enclosed, south-facing garden.
Approach the rural abode along an unmade road. Rub your damp dogs down in the porch and then head through to the farmhouse kitchen to fill their water bowls and offer them their dinner. You’ll also find everything you need here to cook hearty meals for everyone else, plus a washing machine. Follow stone steps down to a lobby with a family bathroom, then another step down into the lounge/diner. Fire up the wood burner in here and let your furry friends recline as it crackles away. Find your favourite programme on the TV/DVD or choose a book from the dining area, another step or two up. Climb the steep, cottage-style stairs when it’s time to lay your head – choose from either of the double bedrooms (one super king and one king size bed) or the twin that adjoins one of them. You also have a child’s single bedroom too, and a family shower room. Wake up to take your happy hounds out into the generous garden. Enjoy the magical vistas and consider firing up the BBQ later on fine days. There is plenty of parking at the cottage.
Enjoy a 1.5-mile walk to Longtown Castle, where your pair of perfect pets can explore the grounds by your side. Pick up the long-distance Offa’s Dyke Path within 1 mile of the cottage. This route of over 175 miles follows much of the border between England and Wales.
