This cosy cottage is situated next to the River Torridge in North Devon, with a plethora of rural dog walks available directly from your front door. Enjoy peaceful fishing on the banks of the river, or paddleboard to one of the neighbouring villages. After a long walk with friends or family, return to your country retreat to snuggle in front of the wood burner or sip a sundowner on the balcony. There is a large paddock where your canine buddy can stretch their legs, and you’ll also have direct access to the traffic-free Tarka Trail.
Steps lead you to the living area of this charming barn conversion, where you’ll find a spacious lounge/diner with a picture window looking out over open countryside. Hard floors make it nice and easy to deal with muddy pawprints and there’s a roaring wood burner, providing the perfect spot for a little doggy nap after an action-packed day. Come together around the dining table, before retiring to the plump sofa to catch up on your favourite programme on the Smart TV. Patio doors lead to the balcony, where you can fire up the BBQ for an afternoon of great food and magnificent river views.
The nearby market town of Bideford (2 miles) is full of quintessential English charm. Let Rover lead the way on a stroll along the picturesque quay, before grabbing an ice cream and pottering around the pretty Victorian park. The town also boasts a great selection of independent eateries, many of which welcome four-legged visitors. If you fancy a day at the seaside, head to Westward Ho! (4.5 miles). Apart from the first stretch of sand, the beach is woof friendly all year. With almost 2 miles to sniff and explore, it’s easy to escape the crowds, even in the height of summer.
