Traditional Lakeland stone terrace house, on a quiet road, just 500 yards from the centre of Keswick. Lots of local amenities on your doorstep offering a great base to explore the Lakes.
This charming cottage, in the bustling market town on Keswick, sleeps six guests and two canine companions. The town has a fantastic array of paw-friendly shops and eateries and is also a great base for those who love to get outdoors and explore. Beautiful Derwentwater is less than 1 mile from the town, offering peace and tranquillity, as well as fabulous dog-walking opportunities. For more of a challenge, the towering peak of Skiddaw is just 5 miles away. After a long walk, the pups can stretch out by the wood burner and you can enjoy a glass of wine in the sunny garden.
Hang up your dog-walking gear in the hallway and head into the open-plan lounge/diner. This cosy space has a roaring wood burner, as well as a large dining table so you can share mealtimes together. Down one step you’ll find the delightful kitchen, where you can whip up a tasty meal for the group. Rest and reset in one of the two king-size rooms or the twin. Outside, you’ll find a delightful, enclosed garden. This secluded spot is a real sun trap, so you can soak up some rays as you sip your coffee and the hounds stretch their legs. There is also a handy hose to deal with muddy paws after a walk in the fells.
The 9-mile circular route around Derwentwater showcases the most beautiful scenery, particularly from the viewpoint at Friars Crag. You can also hop on the pet-friendly Keswick Launch to glide across the water. After a long walk, head back into town for a hearty meal in one of the cosy pubs. Just 2 miles away is Castlerigg Stone Circle. This ancient site dates back to around 3000BC and is surrounded by dramatic fells. Soak up the atmosphere on a dog walk at sunrise and don’t forget your camera!
