Make a romantic retreat to this chic, modern apartment in the Lake District and take your happy hound along with you for the break. Set in Backbarrow, close to the River Leven and 1.5 miles from Newby Bridge and Lake Windermere, the one-bedroom, second-floor property welcomes two guests and one canine companion. Venture out to explore this southern corner of the national park, with its magnificent dog walks, then return home to let Rover relax while you take in the river views.

Open the door to the apartment to find space for boots, jackets and dog leads. Stroll into the light-filled, open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, where your happy hound will feel as immediately at home as you do. Fill up his water bowl, make yourselves a fresh cup of tea and settle down to take in the views or watch the Smart TV. Listen to music through the Bluetooth speaker as you prepare dinner with the fresh Lakeland produce you have shopped for nearby and find a useful washer/dryer in the kitchen too, where you can whiz Rover’s damp towels through after wet walks. Bid your precious pup good night, have a hot shower before bed then wander through to the double room to dream about your exciting day. Wake up to take your cheerful chum for a stroll by the river before breakfast then return home to plan your next great adventure. The apartment comes with parking for one car.

Head to the National Trust’s Fell Foot, just over 2 miles from the apartment, to enjoy a walk of approximately 1.5 miles through beautiful gardens and wildflower meadows. Drive 7.5 miles to reach famous Coniston Water, where you can walk along the picturesque shores. Energetic pups might like to undertake a 14-mile hike right around the lake.

A well equipped, clean, comfortable apartment in a beautiful spot with access to all the main attractions in the Lake District. We will definitely be returning.
