Take one lucky pup with you when you treat yourself to a group break in Keswick. This four-bedroom holiday home, approximately 0.5 miles from the centre of town, sleeps eight guests, as well as their canine companion, and could be ideal for an extended family. From here, set Fido’s tail wagging with walks down to Derwentwater, 700 metres away. Stroll along the shore and let them splash in the shallows. Take a lake cruise on which dogs are also welcome aboard.
Dry wet paws in the porch, hang Fido’s lead up and make your way into the lounge. Relax in here together after your fun-filled days: watch TV, play games and give your much-loved hound some attention. Make your way through to the kitchen to dish up doggy dinners and prepare meals for everyone else to enjoy in the dining room, where there is a second TV. Find you also have a washing machine in the kitchen for rinsing through dog towels. Climb the stairs to two bedrooms, plus the family bathroom, while another king size and a twin are on the floor above, together with a shower room. Wake up to beautiful mountain views; take Fido out for a stroll then return home to plan more dog-friendly activities for the day. Sit outside in the enclosed courtyard garden during warm weather. Find you have space to store bicycles and that parking is on the road, subject to availability.
Pick up the dog lead, lace up your boots and strike out on a 1.5-mile walk to see the Castlerigg Stone Circle. For a longer hike, keen walkers in your group might enjoy accompanying Fido on the 10-mile circuit of Derwentwater, taking in the wonderful scenery as they go. Return to Keswick for lunch in a pub that also welcomes four-legged customers.
