After a day spent exploring this picturesque national park with its peaks, valleys, lakes and market towns, return to this chic bolthole to relax in style while admiring the spectacular mountain views.
This stunning property, situated in Portinscale just 2 miles from Keswick, is a fantastic base for a family holiday – including the dogs, of course! Sleeping six across three beautiful bedrooms with space for up to two pups, this holiday home is the perfect place to come home to after a long day out exploring this wonderful part of the Lake District. Take a lake cruise from Keswick Launch (2 miles) and spend the day on and around Derwentwater before heading back to the village to the dog-friendly pub for a bite to eat.
This spacious and contemporary holiday home has everything you need to escape the pressures of daily life. The open-plan kitchen diner is fresh and bright with huge patio doors looking out across the garden and fells beyond; sizzle up a BBQ out on the terrace on sunny evenings. Cosy greys and yellows in the lounge beckon you to sink into the sofa in front of the wood burner, the pups snoozing by your feet. Upstairs, the serene bedrooms await you; each has soothing neutral decor to lull you to sleep, and more superb fell views lie behind the curtains and blinds.
Make sure you visit the Derwent Pencil Museum and Puzzling Place in Keswick – these are ideal places to keep you all busy on rainy days. Whinlatter Forest (3.5 miles) has plenty of trails for cycling and walking, but if you fancy something more challenging try the routes around Skiddaw (6 miles). The grounds of Mirehouse (5 miles) are lovely for a stroll with the whole family. Dogs are welcome on the Ullswater Steamers (18 miles) where you can stop off at Aira Force Waterfall (15 miles direct) for a picnic; National Trust staff make sure there are lots of water bowls around for thirsty pups.
