Close to Dodd Wood and Mirehouse, this delightfully updated cottage offers warm and cosy accommodation for a couple or a small family seeking a serene lakeside holiday cottage with wonderful views.
Nestled at the foot of the fells in the north of the Lake District National Park, families, friends and their canine companions will love this delightful cottage. Close to the banks of Bassenthwaite Lake, across the road from Dodd Woods and near Mirehouse historic house and gardens, you and your dogs will be spoilt for choice when it comes to walkies. Bassenthwaite Lake is particularly popular with visitors because of its nesting ospreys, so pack your binoculars! The bustling ‘adventure capital’ of Keswick is also 3 miles, with its shops, eateries and range of outdoor activities.
One of three properties at this location, this sympathetically renovated cottage is a delightful blend of original features and contemporary décor. Neutral tones add a sense of light and space throughout, whilst exposed beams add character. The lounge/diner offers a relaxing space for guests with a wood burner-effect electric fire for colder evenings, whilst the dining table sits in front of French doors and affords stunning views. The well-equipped kitchen has everything you’ll need to cook up some treats. Upstairs, there are two cosy bedrooms, one of which has reduced head height in places. Completing the accommodation is a contemporary bathroom. Outside, a large garden has plenty of grass for dogs and kids, with far-reaching countryside views.
The northern Lakes is popular with visitors and their four-legged friends because there’s a wonderful variety of landscapes on offer, from Bassenthwaite’s wetlands nature reserve to the lesser-known northern ascents of Skiddaw (2 miles) and Blencathra (10 miles); from the historic Castlerigg Stone Circle (6 miles) to the woodland of Whinlatter Forest Park (7.5 miles). For something a little different, Keswick is home to the Derwent Pencil Museum, or perhaps enjoy a day out at the Lake District Wildlife Park (4.5 miles).
