Enjoy a peaceful getaway in this cute cottage, on the edge of the charming hamlet of Satterthwaite. The property is in the heart of the Lake District National Park, with Windermere and Coniston Water within 10 miles. With its roaring wood burner and period features, this cottage makes a fantastic cosy bolthole to return to after a long day exploring the fells with your furry friend. There’s also a beautiful garden that leads down to a babbling beck, where you can paddle your toes and paws in the water.
The delightful holiday home has a country-cottage theme, with pastel tones and pretty fabrics sitting alongside exposed beams and stonework. The bright and airy kitchen/diner is a joy to cook in, with its chic Belfast sink and sociable layout. With hard floors throughout, it’s also a good place for the hound to make themselves at home. After dinner, retire to the characterful lounge to unwind in front of the warming wood burner. Upstairs are the three bedrooms: a double, twin, and single that’s perfect for a child. Outside, accessed via steps on the other side of the barn, the rambling garden offers plenty of corners for the pup to explore, as well as sunny spots for al fresco dining (just be sure to supervise children and dogs near the water).
The cottage backs onto Grizedale Forest, meaning you’ll have an endless supply of tracks and trails to investigate with the hound. The 800-acre ancient forest is dotted with fascinating sculptures and has a Go Ape for adrenaline-seekers amongst the group. You’ll find plenty to see and do in paw-friendly Windermere (6 miles). Take a ride on the Lakeside and Haverthwaite steam train through the picture-postcard valley, amble along the peaceful shores, climb high into the surrounding fells for breathtaking views or simply relax in one of the dog-welcoming pubs.
