At a glance

  • Nestled amongst the rural tranquillity of the breathtaking Wasdale Valley on the western side of the Lake District
  • A range of stunning walks from your doorstep, either up fells or along the valley floor
  • Dramatic and picturesque Wastwater, the deepest lake in England, is only a 10-minute walk away
Property code: SZ326

Prepare to feel humbled by mother nature at this spacious Wasdale Valley property offering dramatic hill views. Two canine companions can come too – with tails wagging for potential adventures! With four bedrooms, this property makes a brilliant base for a larger family or group of extended family and friends to explore the rest of the Lake District National Park. Its remote location also means you can really switch off, enjoy something of a digital detox and make magical memories.

This traditional Lakeland farmhouse is really welcoming, with all the modern creature comforts you and your furry friends need. Because you’re in the Lake District and it probably will rain, bring plenty of towels for mucky pups before entering the comfortable lounge or cosy snug for some serious relaxation. Or leave them to dry off in the tile-floored dining room/conservatory area with its huge picture window. The table here seats four, but there’s another dining table seating eight just off the living room for those big holiday feasts, easily prepared in the sizeable fitted kitchen. Four calming bedrooms upstairs offer gorgeous views and versatile sleeping arrangements. The super king-size bedroom has an en-suite with a bath, while there’s another shower room – both are contemporary and very inviting! Relish unspoilt views by day or stars by night in the rear garden with lawns and furnished patio.

You could spend days just soaking up the views from this cottage but lead the way to adventure with canine chums on wonderful walks from the house itself – with fells, woodland and lakes all on offer. Wonderful Wast Water is within 1 mile, while tracks to Scafell Pike start at just 3 miles, but that might be one outing where Fido has to stay behind in case of injury and livestock on the hills.

  • 4 bedrooms – 1 super-king, 1 king, 1 double and 1 twin zip-and-link (can be made up as a double on request).
  •  2 bathrooms - 1 shower room with WC and 1 en-suite bathroom with bath, separate corner shower and WC (accessed through the super-king room)
  • Built-in electric oven with 4 hobs, full-height fridge, separate freezer, dishwasher, washing machine
  • TV and DVD player
  • Wi-Fi included
  • Rear garden with dining furniture. The rear meadows which are accessible for guests, often have sheep grazing so please keep dogs on leads at those times.
  • Off-road parking for 2-3 cars
  • Pub 2.5 miles
  • Sleeps 8
  • Arrival: 16:00 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00, unless otherwise stated in your arrival details
  • 2 dogs allowed. Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week
  • There is an Accidental Damage Deposit of £350 when booking at this property, however this may be waived for £40. We’ll provide more details about this when booking your holiday.

Superb location, would recommend just driving in from Gosforth, first time around if its dark, from the South. Really warm, really comfy bed and loved sitting in the conservatory area.

Lovely house in a perfect location to get away from the fireworks. Enjoyed the many walks from the doorstep and even had a swim in Wast water. Comfy beds and lovely bathrooms plenty of space through the house. Unable to use the pasture as the local sheep had inhabited it and taken over. More reason to get out and explore the wilderness.
