Close by, you’ll find the hilltop of Binsey (2.5 miles), an easy-to-tackle fell that awards fantastic scenery from its peak. Also not far from home, you’ll find one of the national park’s largest bodies of water, Bassenthwaite Lake. Nice cottage, lovely scenery but parking was sometimes a challenge as there is no dedicated parking and no garden. There is no local shop and the village pub has now closed. Nice tea room serving excellent food during the day and Sunday lunch was really good.

Beautiful, cosy, peaceful and well equipped home from home. Would highly recommend. Lovely area, with no phone signal, which for us was perfect. Good WiFi in house. Amazing tearoom 200 yards up the road but the local pub was closed, could have been due to being out of season. Nearest pub, the black lion in Ireby was 1 an half mile away and had a loRead morevely roaring fire, was friendly and welcoming with tasty homemade food at reasonable prices. Again would highly recommend.. Hide

Absolutely wonderful stay at Barrony Cottage. Well equipped, we wanted for nothing. The fire was a highlight - my husband absolutely loved it. Beautiful bedrooms. We had an issue with the shower during our stay and the owners were absolutely fantastic, responding quickly and sorting a fix fast. Had some lovely days out and meals in the local area -Read more was brilliantly placed for accessing the lakes. The best part was the cows that walk past in the morning - my daughter waited by the window for them Hide
