Experience the stunning countryside with its array of historic castles, waterfalls and friendly market towns when you stay in this attractive cottage that sleeps four humans and one pup. You may be positioned within the northern reaches of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, but the Lake District is within 17 miles for further adventures with Fido in tow. Weary from a full day of exploring, your humble abode welcomes you with a fire so let sleeping dogs lie and open the treats ready for a relaxing evening.
Compact yet charming, this stone cottage is packed with character from the moment you scamper up the steps to find the open-plan living space. Light the coal-effect gas fire and recline on the sofas with a glass of wine in hand, then settling down at the table when it is time to eat. The bedrooms are tucked at the end of the property, both sharing the shower room that doubles as a handy paw-washing facility after a particularly muddy expedition. Outside, the shared garden boasts a fire pit, garden furniture and a summerhouse that you are welcome to use. Be sure to keep Rover close, there may be livestock in the fields and pastures.
Kirkby Stephen is 7 miles away and has lots to discover throughout its pretty cobbled streets and historic buildings. The surroundings are a delight to sniff out, so you’ll soon find yourself soaking up the scenery of the beautiful Eden Valley. Cycling, golf and walking are all possible, and you’ll also have the spectacular Lake District within 17 miles. Stroll along the shores of Haweswater, a reservoir 21 miles away that reveals glimpses of a submerged village at times of low water. It’s a wonderful spot to throw down a blanket and appreciate the views over a picnic.
