Enjoy this secluded spot and spend time together planning adventures in the cosy lounge with its open fire.
This remote cottage is located near the southern end of Ullswater and is surrounded by dramatic fells and numerous walking routes. Journey 3.5 miles to join the Ullswater Way or head out on foot and paw from the property to take on the magnificent Dovedale Horseshoe. Sleeping six guests and one hairy hound, it’s the perfect base for large families. The Grade I-listed cottage is full of character and has a roaring open fire to snuggle in front of after a long fell walk.
The charming property is set on a working farm and is decorated in a cute, country-cottage style. The cosy lounge is warm and inviting, with an open fire and local artwork adorning the walls. Play board games together around the coffee table or relax on the plump sofa to watch a film on the TV/DVD, whilst Rover curls up on the rug in front of the fire. The property has a ground-floor single bedroom with an en-suite shower room, and three further bedrooms on the first floor. The enclosed garden has stunning views of the fells and a patio where you can dine alfresco.
You’ll have a fantastic choice of dog walks nearby. Stride out along the Dovedale Horseshoe to tick off several Wainwrights, as well as visit the secret cave of Priest’s Hole. The ridge walk offers breathtaking views and you and the hounds can round the day off with a little paddle in Brothers Water, before returning to the cottage. At Glenridding, 3.5 miles away, you can board the paw-friendly Ullswater Steamer and hop on and off to join various parts of the Ullswater Way. The walk to Aira Force is particularly magical and you can admire the landscape that inspired some of Wordsworth’s most iconic poems.
