Perfect for lovers of the great outdoors, this home from home is a great base from which to explore lakes and fells. Treat yourself to a bite to eat or two in the village cafe where you can enjoy a tipple and stroll home, or dine at the hotel just a few minutes' walk away.

Spend your days climbing snow-capped mountains and hiking up luscious green fells when you stay at this quaint village cottage. Sleeping up to four guests and one lucky pup, this holiday home offers spectacular views of Maiden Moor from every window. Pull on your walking boots and put your best paw forward as you explore wild and rugged countryside tracks and escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

The outdoor space of this single-storey property offers unforgettable views of the surrounding landscape. Watch as your dog bounds across the different areas of the garden, sniffing the pretty plants and flowers before sprinting over to the chairs and slate table. Just imagine digging into a delicious alfresco meal here, while the sun warms your face and you admire the magnificent scenery. When the evening draws in, head indoors with your four-pawed pal and relax in the lounge/diner. Warm your paws and toes next to the open fire as your favourite show plays on the TV. The well-equipped kitchen has everything you need to cook a hearty supper for you and your pup. When bedtime calls, choose from one of two bedrooms to rest your head: a double with views of Grange Fell and a twin with views of Maiden Moor.

A 1-mile walk away is Castle Crag, which makes up part of the Jaws of Borrowdale. Enjoy a circular trek across dog-friendly paths and delight in the lovely views across fields and valleys. The lake of Derwentwater can be reached in 2.5 miles and offers ramblers a beautiful 10-mile route through woodland and along the shore.
