Lovely position and great location for exploring Wasdale, worked well for 2 adults and 1 dog. Thoughtful additions like OS maps, room for wet gear, fully equipped. Would recommend, and return.

Excellent location. Range of mountain walks are very accessible, some from the doorstep. The kitchen is well equipped. We had all that we needed. Nice big TV. It is quite small for 4 people. There is just one fairly small reception room, combining lounge/dining/kitchen. We had issues on arrival, with the storage heaters set on maximum making our fiRead morerst two nights uncomfortably warm, and the shower only supplying water that was too hot to stand under until fixed by plumber. Lovely little cottage occupying the first floor. If you like rural and quiet this is the place. We stayed 3 nights and wanted to climb Scarfell, it was a 10 minute drive or a lovely, flat 4 mile walk to the starting point of Scarfell, In less than 10 minutes you can walk to a lovely lake shore area of Wastwater. The road runs directly by the bedrooRead morem windows but as it is do rural we had more sheep passing than cars, so not a problem. Bedroom views were outstanding. Would stay again. Hide

The location of this cottage/apartment is superb, it is very rural and beautiful. It is a compact cottage but fantastic for 2 people. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked, even down to salt and pepper, tea, coffee and milk sachets. The website said to bring towels but they were already provided along with kitchen clothes Read moreetc. we went a few yards down the road and sat by a brook that was idyllic and a lovely place to view the surrounding mountains. We had a lovely week at the Screes. The cottage is cosy and well equipped with everything you need for a home away from home (including a very comfy bed). There are plenty of games, books and puzzles for the inevitable rainy days and theres also a TV with Netflix. The wifi is a little slow but you dont go to the Lakes to sit on your phone! The locaRead moretion was simply unbeatable, we walked up Buckbarrow straight from the front door, and the views over the Wastwater Screes were amazing. Hide

Crockery & glassware all needed re-washing. Cushions on the sofa had pen marks and greasy spots - clearly werent freshly in there for us! Garden needed weeding. No outside seating. Double and one single bed were comfy, single nearest window needs a decent mattress. Odd equipment in cottage eg washing up liquid but no sponge. Salt but no vinegar. UHRead moreT milk provided in starter kit, not fresh. Cottage is in fact a tiny apartment unit in a bigger building which is unclear from website. Hide

Fantastic location, lots of local waks to explore but you might want to research these before arriving. Cottage a tad on the small side for 2 adults & 2 teenagers more suitable to 3 people. Ensure you have all the essentials as not much nearby to get anything you've forgotten.

Lovely comfortable accommodation in a spectacular area. Perfect base for climbing the local Wainwrights including some straight from the front door plus only a short stroll down to Wastwater. Equipped with everything you need for a quiet & peaceful week but bring your supplies with you to save having to travel out 5+ miles just to get milk :-)

Well equipped cottage but a little cosy particularly if there was 4 people. Great location for Wast Water and the Western Lakes but access to the other Lakes involved quite a circular route.
