Head off to this haven for dogs near the Lake District and have a group break with your canine companions right at the very heart of the fun. The impressive, four-bedroom holiday home sleeps up to eight guests and two pets, and is set in beautiful surroundings about 3.5 miles from Cockermouth. Enjoy long walks through the woods, strolls beside the River Derwent and hike up nearby mountains with your faithful friends by your side. Return to the house to relax out in the spacious garden while Fido and Fred frolic close by.
Wander inside to hang dog leads in the hall. Put your paws up in front of a DVD or film on TV in the lounge while the pups also take a break from the excitement. Younger members of the group might like to amble through to the games room, with its extra TV and pool table. Cook meals for your party in the well-designed kitchen then light the open fire and serve up in the airy dining room. As night falls, settle Fido and Fred and head upstairs to one of the three double bedrooms, one with an en-suite shower room, another with an adjoining bunk room and a third with an en-suite bathroom and sofa bed for two children if required. There’s also a twin room and a family bathroom. Take the pups out into the sunny garden every day; have breakfast, lunch and dinner out here. You’ll also find parking for three cars.
Call Fido and Fred and head off for a walk through Dodd Wood, 5 miles away. Plan trips to Keswick, 12 miles away, to walk all or part of the picturesque 10-mile route around Derwentwater or watch ears prick up when you board a dog-friendly launch to soak up the scenery from the water.
