Escape to this attractive cottage in Portinscale, less than 2 miles from Keswick, and take a trio of pups with you. Also sleeping eight guests, the four-bedroom property could be perfect for a dog-loving family. From here, wander down to Derwentwater to hire a boat on which your happy hounds can join you, or stretch furry legs with a walk around the beautiful lake. Find dog-friendly pubs and cafes here and in Keswick where you can all enjoy well-earned refreshments afterwards.

Make your way into the airy cottage to settle in the lounge in front of a glowing wood burner with your furry friends at your feet. Open the doors to the kitchen/diner to make it open-plan. Pull back the French doors in the dining room on warm days to bring the outside in or to take the pups out into the fresh air. Discover everything you need to help you prepare hearty feasts for hounds and humans alike in the kitchen area, plus a washing machine that could be useful after wet walks. You also have a WC at ground-floor level while the family bathroom is on the first floor. A double bedroom, a twin with a Juliet balcony and a bunk bedroom are also on the first floor, while another double bedroom, with an en-suite shower room, is on the floor above. This room has mountains views and sloping ceilings. Take your contented canines out to explore the rockery garden in the morning, or have your breakfast on the deck on fine days. You also have parking for two cars.

Undertake a range of great walks from the cottage. Stretch four legs with hikes along the Coledale Round, 3.5 miles away, or up to the Catbells, approximately 3 miles from the cottage. More energetic pups might also like to attempt Skiddaw, 6 miles away.

  • 4 bedrooms - 2 doubles, 1 twin, 1 bunk bedroom (with full-size beds)
  • 2 bathrooms - 1 family bathroom with a shower and WC; 1 en-suite shower room with a shower and WC; separate WC

The cottage is in a great location, close to Keswick, a lovely pub, a cafe and walks direct from the door. Well equipped kitchen, comfy beds, plenty of room for the adults, dogs and baby. Outdoor seating was great too, plenty of space for a big family to eat outside.

Portinscale is a lovely place but unfortunately my wife and one of my daughters cannot sleep where there is significant traffic noise. The property is situated between the A66 and the minor Portinscale access road. Would suit those who can sleep through anything because the house itself is very good and spotless.
