Located between the North Pennines and the Lake District, this rural bolthole is an ideal base from which to explore this scenic part of the country with friends, family and canine companions.
Bask in the sunshine and take in the views at this handsome former barn near Kirkoswald in Cumbria, while your trio of four-legged friends races and bounds across the generous garden. Set in the Eden Valley, about 9 miles from Penrith, the enticing, three-bedroom holiday home also sleeps six guests and offers excellent dog walks right from the doorstep. Head approximately 2.5 miles to reach the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with its myriad footpaths, and about 15 miles to the Lake District.
Enter with your furry friends and venture straight upstairs to discover the first-floor lounge/kitchen/diner, with its gorgeous vaulted ceiling and revealed timbers. Let the pups pad about, while you light the wood burner and settle down to enjoy the glorious outlook and listen to music on the Bluetooth radio or watch the Smart TV or a DVD. Feed your hungry hounds up here and whip up something delicious for the humans in the group to enjoy at the table. When night falls, wander down to the lower level of the barn to choose between two double bedrooms and a twin that can be arranged as a super-king in advance. A family bathroom is also on this floor. Spill out into the beautiful gardens with your bouncing hounds as often as the weather permits. You’ll have access to a shared laundry room, with a washing machine and tumble dryer, and parking.
Lace up your walking boots and drive approximately 13 miles to pick up the Pennine Way, a 270-mile long-distance route, from Edale in Derbyshire to Kirk Yetholm in the Scottish Borders, that will set tails wagging. Drive 16.5 miles to Pooley Bridge to follow a section of the 20-mile Ullswater Way, which goes all the way around the lake.
