Stay in comfort and luxury in the glorious Lake District National Park, with fells and lakes poised for adventure close by and a home-from-home property to return to at the end of each day.
This traditional Lakeland cottage benefits from an elevated position overlooking the Eskdale Valley and the picture-postcard La’al Ratty steam train, inspiring you to get outdoors and explore this stunning landscape with your favourite furry companion. Ride on the steam train to the Cumbrian coast, or head deep into the Lake District to tackle some of England’s highest mountains. At the end of the day, return with friends or family to your cosy bolthole to relax in front of the warming wood burners or take a soak in the magnificent roll-top bath.
The characterful cottage has been lovingly decorated and furnished to really make the most of the fabulous original features, such as the exposed stonework and stained-glass windows. Leave your dog-walking gear in the handy boot room, before heading into the farmhouse-style kitchen. This bright and spacious area is the perfect place for the hound, with underfloor heating creating lots of cosy spots for dozing. There’s also a large dining table next to a wood burner, where you can socialise together over dinner. The garden overlooks the valley and is an idyllic setting for al fresco dining. The area is enclosed, so it’s safe for your four-legged pal, and there’s also a dog shower to deal with muddy pawprints!
You and the pup can enjoy a scenic jaunt on the steam train (1 mile) all the way to Ravenglass, the national park’s only coastal village. When you arrive, Rover can charge around on the estuary beach, where woofers are welcome all year. Muncaster Castle (5.5 miles) has spectacular rambling gardens and wild woodlands that your canine buddy will adore. Pack a picnic and spend an afternoon exploring the grounds of the haunted castle, which are particularly magical in spring, when every nook and cranny is bursting with colour.
