Offering stunning views of the awe-inspiring Newlands Valley, this reverse-level property makes a welcoming holiday home for six guests, and has ample space for a pair of four-legged friends. Ideal for keen walkers, climbers, cyclists and nature lovers exploring the Lake District, this pretty retreat is within easy reach of many of the area’s most popular sites including Keswick, Buttermere and Causey Pike. Perfect for families and friends, this imaginatively converted former corn mill is one of a pair of cottages that can be booked together by larger groups eager to discover this breathtaking region.

Entering this light-filled and welcoming property, the ground floor features a long entrance hall and two peaceful ground-floor bedrooms: a double and a twin with garden views. The first floor features the final bedroom – a pretty double – along with a stylish family bathroom and a handy shower room. The first-floor open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner provides an ideal space for everyone to gather, chat about the day, cook a family meal and relax with a good book or favourite movie. Stepping outside, the patio and picnic benches offer a choice of lovely spots for dining alfresco and admiring the spellbinding views. There’s a front garden shared with the neighbouring cottage, and the back garden leads down to private woodlands, an unfenced millpond (children should be supervised) and a path leading out into the Cumbrian countryside.

Within easy reach of the vibrant town of Keswick (4 miles), the Newlands Valley is a fantastic base for dogs and their owners, with popular local destinations including Whinlatter Forest Park, the Puzzling Place and the grounds at Mirehouse (all within 7 miles). The nearest lakes are Derwentwater (2 miles), Bassenthwaite Lake, Crummock Water and Buttermere (all within 6 miles), all offering miles of wonderful walks and glorious scenery.

Wonderful little cottage, stunning views and hill walks right on your front doorstep. We were there with a one year old, 3 year old and dog and the set up made everything so easy. An amazing location for anyone who loves walking, running or biking in the Lakes - the fells are literally on your doorstep. The cottage is well equipped and was lovely and warm. The owners were really helpful and tried to help us when we had trouble with our car.

Great location for walks straight out the door, pub also in walking distance! Owner is accessible too! Lovely and warm with plenty of hot water for bath or shower after a days walk. Keswick town is close by with tea shops and lots of walking shops. Safe parking.

We stayed in both Parrock & Mill cottages. Both were clean and well equipped. The beds are all very comfortable. The more able of the party got to the top of Catbells. Whinlatter Forest is well worth a visit. Go Ape Treetop adventure+ & the Segways were a hit with the younger ones.

This is a fantastic cottage, in a great location. We are a family of 5 and there was plenty of space and the garden is amazing, as well as the location. The kitchen is fully equipped and the cottage has great amenities including washing machine and dryer. It was great that we could also have our dog with us. Overall a fantastic stay. A lovely place to stay with the upside-down layout making the most of the views across to the fells. Comfortable, warm and well-equipped and walks right from the door. Perfect location for exploring the Newlands Valley.

The cottage was in an absolutely perfect situation with lots of lovely walks from the doorstep, Catbells and Derwent water to name just a couple. We chose to stay at the Parrock because of the wonderful views from the lounge and we were not disappointed. The owner was very helpful and the cottage was fully equipped with every thing you would need.

Well equipped kitchen and comfortable bedroom. Enhanced by friendly owners and views both to Skiddaw and to the active bird-feeder (if you like looking at nature programmes). You can walk from the door which is a real plus in wet weather.

Stayed for a week early November. Great welcoming hosts that left us to do our thing but knowing they were there if we needed them. A truly lovely cottage, extremely beautiful scenery and gardens that offer all sorts of delightful surprises, if you care to explore. Extensive lawns with a stream and millpond with an abundance of pheasants in it. The cottage was one of the nicest we've stayed at. Very well equipped - it literally had everything we needed. The location is perfect - with most of our walks not even needing the car. I loved watching all the birds on the feeder while eating breakfast and doing a puzzle in the evenings. Martin was very welcoming and helped with recommendations. The location is stunning, and the views from the garden are amazing. The garden has its own wooded area, which you can walk through. A stream runs alongside the garden. All you can hear are the birds and the stream. From the location, you can do several walks onto the fells. There are a few pubs in the area. Would recommend the Coledale Inn.
