Escape to this Grade II-listed, stone cottage in Dean, 5.5 miles from Cockermouth and less than 2 miles from Lake District – a duo of dogs is also welcomed with open paws. With two bedrooms, the inviting holiday home sleeps four guests and is in an excellent location for reaching the northern and western swathes of the Lake District National Park. Plan trips to Loweswater, 4 miles away, where you can stretch furry legs on an easy 4-mile loop of the lake or watch their tails wag when you arrive at Crummock Water, a 9-mile drive from the cottage.
Step inside via the cottage’s airy kitchen/diner. Feed your four-legged friends in here; you also have ample space and all the equipment you need to prepare meals for everyone else to enjoy at the table. Make your way into the lounge afterwards to fire up the wood burner and watch TV or listen to music via the iPod/iPhone docking station and Bluetooth speaker, while those tired but happy hounds stretch out. At the end of each exhilarating day, climb the stairs to lay your head in one of the two comfortable double bedrooms, both with characterful beams. The family bathroom is up here too. Spill out into the enclosed cottage garden on fine days, sizzle supper on the BBQ or light the chiminea out here while the pups enjoy the fresh air. There is parking for three cars at the cottage.
Venture 11 miles to spend time at Whinlatter Forest Park in the Lake District, where you and your canine companions can follow leafy trails. Head another 5 miles further on to reach Keswick town, where you can hop on a lake launch to absorb the spectacular scenery of Derwentwater, with your furry friends by your side.
