Book a stay in this inviting, rustic cottage at Patterdale, where two happy hounds can bound and play in the enclosed garden. The stone holiday home, which enjoys verdant vistas, has four bedrooms and sleeps eight guests, making it perfect for a large, dog-loving family or a group of friends eager to escape together. Situated 2 miles from Glenridding and Ullswater, it is ideally situated for hill walking and mountain climbing, as well as waterside walks.

Enter through the porch, towel down your furry friends and step down into the hall to hang dog leads and outerwear. Pop the towels into the washing machine in the utility room, where there is also a tumble dryer and WC. Wander into the kitchen/diner, where the pups will enjoy the warmth of the underfloor heating. Prepare hearty feasts for both humans and hounds before heading through to the lounge to put your paws up in front of a roaring wood burner. Watch a DVD or enjoy your favourite tunes via the CD player, as there is no TV reception here. Head through to the snug to read a few pages of your book before bidding Fido and Fred goodnight and climbing the steep, spiral staircase up to two double and two twin bedrooms. The family bathroom is also up here. Please be aware there are some characterful but uneven floors, sloping ceilings and low beams. Take a cup of coffee into the garden in the morning and watch your cheerful chums play, and why not have BBQ out here later on?

Walk or drive to Glenridding to board an Ullswater Steamer on which your duo of dogs is also very welcome. Enjoy a 3-mile walk along the Ullswater Way from Glenridding to see the Aira Force waterfall. Catch the steamer back afterwards.

  • Wood burner - initial supply of fuel provided
  • Underfloor heating in kitchen/diner and entrance hall
  • TV/HDMI DVD, CD player in lounge - please note there is no TV reception, the TV is provided solely for watching DVDs
  • Wi-Fi included - please note this might be slow due to the rural location of the property
  • Enclosed garden with furniture and BBQ (fuel not provided) - please keep gates closed. The outside area is uneven and raised from the property
  • Ample parking in shared car parking area opposite property over a stream (access to car park is across paving slabs in the stream)
  • Take care of low beams, uneven floors, changes in floor level, sloping floor in second double bedroom and sloping ceilings throughout
  • Take care of internal stone steps and uneven steps on the slate spiral staircase
  • The drive up to the house is rocky and uneven - this may not be suitable for sports cars
  • Please note that the cottage is surrounded by farmland and animals, please keep your dogs on a lead around the farmland area
  • Stream within the grounds which runs between the car park area and front door - children to be supervised at all times
  • Shops, restaurants and pubs within 1.5 miles
  • Arrival: 16:00 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00, unless otherwise stated in your arrival details
  • 2 dogs allowed. Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week
  • There is an Accidental Damage Deposit of £350 when booking at this property, however this may be waived for £40. We’ll provide more details about this when booking your holiday.

There can be few locations as good as this in the Lakes providing easy access to some of the finest walks and views. Quiet, peaceful and away from the bustling crowd. At 800 feet the only passers by are real walkers. In addition to the local walks met walkers doing the Coast to Coast walk including many from N America. It is quite pleasant to meet Read morea walker from Arizona who is delighted to be walking in the rain. Very pleasant walk to Patterdale and Glenridding. Something to the whole Hide

After travelling up a long narrow fairly rough farm track into the hills came to the absolutely idyllic farmhouse under the mountain. Footpath to Helvellyn outside the door. Grisedale Beck running past the house. Warm and cosy house with log burning stove and well equipped kitchen. Wonderful holiday.

Fabulous location, great views. The house is well appointed and very comfortable. What a great location for the Northern Lakes. Good wifi even if no phone signal.
