Quintessential Lakeland cottage sleeping two at the heart of Buttermere, a delightful village known for its impressive scenery, walking opportunities and friendly pubs and cafes serving local fare.
Light the wood burner at this cosy cottage in Buttermere or sit out in the garden with your favourite furry friend after excursions out exploring the scenic Lake District. This charming, two-bedroom cottage, which welcomes two human guests and one canine companion with open paws, makes a perfect, romantic retreat and a great base from which to get out and about in the fells. Stroll out from home on a 4.5-mile walk right around Lake Buttermere. You’ll also be close to Crummock Water, 600 metres away, and Derwentwater, 6 miles away, offering dog-walking opportunities.
Let yourselves into the welcoming cottage and call your faithful friend through into the lounge. Light the wood burner then put your paws up for a while, perhaps watching a film on the TV. In the kitchen, unpack any fresh Lakeland produce you have bought then serve Fido his dinner and make a romantic meal for the two of you to enjoy in the dining room. Bid your happy hound goodnight before climbing the stairs to either the double bedroom or the single. Wake up to take him for a stroll up the steep path from the kitchen towards Buttermere Fells in the morning sunshine and then out into the enclosed garden so you can unwind and take in the magnificent views. You’ll find parking for one car at the cottage.
Lace up your boots, call your pup and head out approximately 1 mile to see Moss Force Waterfall. Also worth seeing is Scale Force Waterfall, about 2 miles away, beyond Crummock Water. Drive to Derwentwater to tire furry feet out with a 10-mile hike around the lake. Venture 10 miles to Keswick, where you and your hound can take a cruise on the water, disembarking at different jetties to enjoy shorter walks.
