Escape to the western reaches of the Lake District National Park and thrill your party of six with exhilarating mountain rambles, scenic steam train rides and all the pub lunches you can stomach. There’s no need for Fido to miss out on the fun, this stunning region is delightfully dog-friendly and has lots to offer any excitable pup. The village of Haile is an excellent vantage point for discovering Ennerdale, Eskdale and Wasdale, so all you’ll need is your sense of adventure.
Contemporarily styled with cosy traditional elements such as a crackling wood burner, this delightful property has ample space for relaxing as a group. Natural light pours in through the large windows, providing weary hounds with snoozing spots. The open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner is the heart of the home with sofas to relax on and patio doors that open for an al fresco vibe. Budding cooks will find everything they need to rustle up meals to enjoy around the table, or why not dine outside. The garden has secret areas reached via winding pathways, just keep Rover close by as the garden isn’t enclosed. At bedtime, head upstairs to find the family bathroom and three bedrooms, one of which has an en-suite shower room.
The Ennerdale Valley is the ideal first stop for any expedition, whether you are sniffing out the pockets of woodland or gazing across tranquil Ennerdale Water. Venturing deeper into the Lake District will reward you with the sights of Eskdale and beyond, a sight best enjoyed from the vantage point of the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway 11 miles away. For the hardened explorers, Skiddaw (28 miles), Scafell Pike (22 miles) and Great Gable (15 miles) may be a trek but are well worth the drive if you are tempted to scale their imposing heights.
