This delightful cottage, on the western edge of the Lake District National Park, has the best of both worlds, with access to lakeside and fell walks, as well as being close to the Cumbrian coast. St Bees Beach is just 11.5 miles away and welcomes four-legged visitors all year. The cottage is within a complex of two other properties, which can be booked together for large groups. With a fabulous open-plan layout, the cottage is perfect for entertaining. There’s also a garden for al fresco dining, along with a large lawn for children and dogs to enjoy.
Once inside the elegant cottage, you’ll discover a lovely lounge/kitchen/diner. The space is decorated in neutral tones, with accents of red, and has wooden floors throughout (ideal for dealing with muddy pawprints!). Enjoy a glass of wine on the leather sofas arranged around the open fire, before joining your fellow guests for an evening of great food and laughter at the dining table. From here, a cottage-style spiral staircase leads to the double and twin bedrooms on the first floor, both of which boast lovely countryside views. Outside, relax and listen to the birds singing in the trees of the mature garden, whilst the hounds burn off steam on the lawn.
The nearby lake of Loweswater (5 miles) is truly magical. Wander along its peaceful shores, before following the woodland walk to the beautiful Holme Force Waterfall. The hounds will love discovering lots of new smells along this varied trail. In summer, the lake is also the perfect setting to try a little wild swimming, followed by a picnic on the shore. The long, sandy beach at St Bees is a haven for your four-pawed pals, who will be in their element chasing a ball and splashing in the water.
