Traditional Lakeland cottage with lots of character. Perfect for a family and featuring some fabulous walks from your front door.
The charming cottage is in the pretty village of Bassenthwaite, surrounded by walks to explore with your four-legged chums. From waterside strolls at Bassenthwaite Lake to exhilarating climbs at Skiddaw, there’s something nearby to suit everyone. The cottage sleeps five guests and two hairy hounds, making it ideal for a family or group of friends. After a long walk, return to your cosy cottage to snuggle in front of the wood burner or enjoy a delicious al fresco meal in the pretty garden whilst the hounds stretch out in the sunshine.
The traditional cottage is bursting with character, with original features throughout, and is decorated in neutral tones with flashes of vibrant soft furnishings. Leave your boots and dog leads in the lobby, before heading into the welcoming lounge. Curl up on the comfortable sofa to watch the Smart TV, whilst Rover and Fido warm their paws by the wood burner. Come together in the formal dining area to enjoy evenings of great food and admire the views of Skiddaw. The three bedrooms – two king size and one single – are located on the first floor. Due to the age of the property, two of the rooms have restricted head height. To the side of the cottage is a peaceful garden, where you can unwind with a glass of wine.
Let the pups lead the way to the top of Skiddaw. Being in an isolated position, at the summit you’ll be treated to spectacular panoramic views across the Lake District National Park. Mirehouse and Gardens (3 miles), on the banks of Bassenthwaite Lake, makes a great doggy day out. Woofers are welcome to explore the 18th-century gardens, where they can sniff their way along a network of woodland trails. There’s also a fun nature trail for families to discover the local wildlife.
