This characterful property has been lovingly designed to provide comfort, style, and is packed full of character, nestled in the rolling countryside of the Furness region of Cumbria.

Nestled within the southern reaches of the Lake District National Park is Haverthwaite, a destination loved by railway enthusiasts thanks to the popular Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway. Discover the glorious countryside as your beloved hounds take the lead and sniff out exciting walks through the windswept landscape, whilst you work out where to sample the top-notch local fare. Your cosy cottage is a wonderful base for your pack of six humans and two pups, offering a pretty courtyard garden, a roaring wood burner and ample space for socialising and snoozing in comfort.

Picture yourself relaxing on the sofas in the glow of the wood burner, a glass of wine in hand and your faithful friend at your feet, both of you full bellied from the delicious feast prepared earlier in the spacious kitchen/diner. Outside, the courtyard garden is a treat with pretty plants and a spot for al fresco dining. Exhausted from your adventures, the modest sized bedrooms are comfortable and welcoming, and there are two bathrooms for long soaks and washing muddy paws, one of which is a useful en-suite. The small 4ft double bedroom is ideal for youngsters, and there is allocated parking for two cars.

Whether you are drawn to the ancient trees of Grizedale Forest or the glacial waters of Lake Windermere, you are well placed for adventures on four legs or two. Hop aboard a steamer from Lakeside 4.5 miles away and bask in the views, disembarking at Bowness-on-Windermere to potter amongst the shops and grab a bite to eat. If you have a speedy pooch or a doggy trailer handy then cycling is a must, and there is a Bike Bus from Backbarrow just 1.5 miles away that meanders all the way to Ambleside 16 miles away, allowing you to discover top sights without driving far.

Clean, tidy and very welcoming cottage. Has everything you need there and is situated in a lovely part of the Lakes. Would suit couples as well as families. Would highly recommend.

Lovely clean cottage. We thought reviews mentioning the noisy road referred to the (not too far) main road but that's not a problem; however the minor road through the village is indeed more noisy than expected.

Just returned from a fantastic 3 night stay at this cottage. The cottage is very well equipped with everything you need, very well maintained and perfectly clean. The garden is lovely for sitting out in on an evening. Location of the cottage is brilliant and very handy for visiting all tourist spots in the Lakes and also the beach at Barrow. There Read moreare also some lovely walks direct from the cottage. I can thoroughly recommend this cottage the only problem was our stay was not long enough! Hide

We had an amazing time over New Year at the property and would definitely rebook. We had everything we needed to enjoy our stay in the cottage and really appreciated the welcome pack, it was such a lovely touch! Hopefully the local pub will reopen in the near future.

A well equipped cottage. We enjoyed dog walks from the house. Convenient location for Lake Windermere and Conistone. Haverthwaite steam railway on the doorstep so it is possible to explore Lake Windermere by train and boat. One of our criteria for choosing the cottage was a pub in walking distance. Unfortunately when we walked to the local pub for Read morea meal, it was not serving food and did not look inviting. Hide

We had a lovely relaxing stay, we were even able to enjoy the delightful enclosed garden in the sunshine. We only stayed for 2 nights but would highly recommend staying at this beautiful cottage.

We had a lovely week away. The cottage is well equipped and comfortable. There was a problem with the boiler but it was dealt with quickly.
